Planning a Diving Holiday in Anilao and Puerto Galera

Anilao is the diving coast of the municipality of Mabini in Batangas, its bases line the western shore of the Calumpan Peninsula towards Balayan Bay. From Manila, you drive there via SLEX and STAR Tollway, then take the bangkas of the bases to sites like Cathedral and Secret Bay. Puerto Galera lies opposite at the northern tip of Mindoro and has been a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve since 1977. A ferry or water taxi from Batangas will take you there, and from Sabang Beach you can reach most sites in ten minutes by boat. Between the two coasts lies the Verde Island Passage.

With this booklet you plan the week. On a base's weekly schedule you can see how boat trips and dives at the house reef are spread over the days, with a plan B if the boat cannot sail due to the weather. The last day before the return flight remains dive-free. The travel time by month states water and air temperature, wind, visibility, crowds and special features, so that you can set the date before booking your flight and accommodation.

You get a PDF in A5 format, which you can read on your phone or tablet on the go and print as a booklet at home.

Depths, currents and entries change. The guide does not replace a briefing on site or your training.

Researched and compiled by a divemaster.
