Diving at the Great Barrier Reef
For Cairns and Port Douglas, you will land at Cairns Airport. For the Yongala, Townsville is closer, from where you will drive one and a half hours to Ayr. In tropical northern Queensland, the dry season is from May to October, and the wet season is from November to April, with more storms. Jellyfish are there all year round, with most between November and May. In June and July, dwarf minke whales migrate past the Ribbon Reefs.
