Travel to the Bahamas and travel information

Tiger Beach is a shallow sandbank off West End, Grand Bahama. You can get there by safari boat from Freeport or, during the season, by day boat from the Old Bahama Bay Marina. In addition to tiger sharks, lemon sharks and Caribbean reef sharks can be seen there. On Bimini, the dive base is located at the Bimini Big Game Club in Alice Town. From November to April, it runs trips to see great hammerhead sharks, and all year round, it offers snorkeling with wild dolphins. Since 2011, sharks in the Bahamas have been fully protected; none may be caught or harmed.

This booklet is for your trip to the Bahamas and getting around locally. It covers flights from German-speaking countries, the airlines' rules for diving gear, and transfers from the airport to your accommodation or the dive base. In the travel information, you will find sections on documents and insurance, health, equipment, packing lists, money, and phone numbers. The country and its people section explains history and local customs, as well as how to pronounce the most important place names.

You will receive an A5-format PDF that you can read on your phone or tablet while traveling and print as a booklet at home.

Depths, currents and entries change. The guide does not replace a briefing on site or your training.
