Diving in Malta
Dive centres in Malta need a licence from the Malta Tourism Authority; many are based in St Paul's Bay and Mellieħa, and on Gozo in Marsalforn. As an independent diver with the appropriate certification, you can rent cylinders and book dives there; with a lower-level certification, you can only dive with a dive instructor. A dive centre authorised by Heritage Malta can take you to historic wrecks such as the HMS Russell, but you may only view them from the outside without touching anything.
