Diving in Sydney, Melbourne and Apollo Bay
In Sydney, besides Shelly Beach, you can also go into the water at Bare Island in La Perouse and at The Steps at Kurnell, which the tourism authority Destination NSW calls home to the weedy seadragons. Off Barwon Heads lies the former frigate HMAS Canberra, sunk in October 2009 as Victoria's first artificial reef specifically for divers. Between Queenscliff and Sorrento, a ferry carrying cars and pedestrians crosses the entrance to Port Phillip Bay.
