Diving in Madeira

Diving bases can be found on Madeira in Funchal, Caniço, Machico and Caniçal, while on Porto Santo, a base has been operating from a boat and from the shore since 2001. Off Caniçal on the east coast lie dive sites at Ponta de São Lourenço, and off Madalena do Mar in the southwest, the wreck of the Bowbelle. The Madeirense and the corvette General Pereira d’Eça off Porto Santo are part of the network of marine protected areas around the small islands off Porto Santo.
