Diving in Perth and on the West Coast
The drive from Perth to Exmouth takes just under thirteen hours, so most people fly with Qantas to Learmonth Airport, where a shuttle takes you into town. Ferries to Rottnest Island depart from Fremantle, Hillarys, and the Barrack Street Jetty in the city; you can usually take diving equipment with you. Whale sharks visit Ningaloo Reef from March to August. Blue Destiny refers to autumn at Rottnest as the season of light winds, when sand tibarons appear off the western end.
