Anilao is the name of the diving coast of the municipality of Mabini in Batangas, its dive bases line the west coast of the Calumpan Peninsula towards Balayan Bay. From Manila, you drive there via SLEX and STAR Tollway, then take the bangkas of the dive bases to spots like Cathedral and Secret Bay. Puerto Galera lies opposite on the northern tip of Mindoro and has been a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve since 1977. A ferry or water taxi from Batangas will take you there, and from Sabang Beach you can reach most spots in ten minutes by boat. Between the two coasts lies the Verde Island Passage.
