Dive sites in Anilao and Puerto Galera

Anilao is the diving coast of the municipality of Mabini in Batangas, its bases line the western shore of the Calumpan Peninsula towards Balayan Bay. From Manila, you drive there via SLEX and STAR Tollway, then take the bangkas from the bases to sites like Cathedral and Secret Bay. Puerto Galera lies opposite at the northern tip of Mindoro and has been a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve since 1977. You can get there by ferry or water taxi from Batangas, and from Sabang Beach you can reach most sites in ten minutes by boat. Between the two coasts lies the Verde Island Passage.

This booklet is for days spent in the water. At the beginning, a map shows all the featured sites. Each feature lists the base from which the boat departs, along with the travel time, or the house reef where you enter the water from the shore. A table at the end of the chapter lists the remaining dive sites. What to expect in terms of conditions and wind throughout the year and which regulations apply is explained in the chapter on Diving in Anilao and Puerto Galera. Typical species are shown with an actual photo and their season.

You will receive an A5-format PDF that you can read on your phone or tablet while on the go and print as a booklet at home.

Depths, currents and entries change. The guide does not replace a briefing on site or your training.

Researched and compiled by a divemaster.
