Dive sites in Raja Ampat and Komodo
After Raja Ampat, you fly over Jakarta, Bali, Manado or Makassar to Sorong. That is where the liveaboard boats depart, or the resorts pick you up by boat. On Kri Island, Cape Kri lies directly in front of the Papua Diving resorts, while at Manta Sandy, mantas visit their cleaning station. For the marine park, you buy a ticket from the park authorities, which is valid for one year. Komodo National Park, located between Sumbawa and Flores, was established in 1980 to protect the Komodo dragons. From Labuan Bajo, day boats go to sites such as Batu Bolong, while you can reach Manta Alley in the south by liveaboard boat. On Rinca and Komodo, rangers will take you to see the dragons.
This booklet is for your days in the water. At the beginning, a map shows all the featured sites. Each feature lists the harbour from which the boat departs, along with the travel time, or the house reef where you enter the water from the shore. A table at the end of the chapter lists the remaining dive sites. What conditions and winds to expect throughout the year and which regulations apply are explained in the chapter on diving in Raja Ampat and Komodo. Typical species are shown with an actual photograph and their season.
You will receive an A5-format PDF that you can read on your phone or tablet while on the go and print as a booklet at home.
