Planning a Diving Holiday in Raja Ampat and Komodo

After Raja Ampat, you fly over Jakarta, Bali, Manado or Makassar to Sorong. That is where the safari boats depart and the resorts pick you up by boat. On Kri Island, Cape Kri lies directly in front of the Papua Diving resorts, while at Manta Sandy, mantas visit their cleaning station. For the marine park, you buy a pass from the park authorities, which is valid for one year. Komodo National Park, located between Sumbawa and Flores, was established in 1980 to protect the Komodo dragons. From Labuan Bajo, day boats sail to sites such as Batu Bolong, while you can reach Manta Alley in the south by safari boat. On Rinca and Komodo, rangers take you to see the dragons.

This booklet helps you plan your week. The weekly schedule at a dive base shows how boat trips and dives at the house reef are spread across the days, with a plan B if the boat cannot sail due to the weather. The last day before your return flight is kept dive-free. The seasonal guide lists water and air temperatures, wind, visibility, crowds and special events for each month, so you can choose your dates before booking your flight and accommodation.

You will receive an A5-format PDF that you can read on your phone or tablet while travelling and print as a booklet at home.

Depths, currents and entries change. The guide does not replace a briefing on site or your training.
