What’s inside the guide

Dive bases and accommodations in the Visayas

In the Visayas, you dive from a base, usually from a bangka, the wooden boat with bamboo outriggers. Before Malapascua, it leaves early in the morning for the fox sharks at Monad Shoal and Kimud Shoal off Leyte, where most had switched in September 2022. In Moalboal, you reach the sardine run from the shore off Panagsama Beach and Pescador Island by boat. Before Dauin on Negros, you dive from the beach over sand and silt, and from there the bangka goes to Apo Island, where the bases see sea turtles on most dives. From Alona Beach on Panglao, the bases go to Balicasag and Pamilacan.

With this booklet, you choose the base and accommodation together. It compares the dive bases and the houses afterwards, which base and which house reef belong to a house, and how far the walk to the boat is. For each accommodation, it states whether there is space to rinse and dry the equipment and an early breakfast. For non-diving days, the booklet lists restaurants and excursions, each place with a map link.

You get a PDF in A5 format, which you can read on your phone or tablet on the go and print as a booklet at home.

Questions about the booklet “Dive bases and accommodations in the Visayas”
