Planning a diving vacation in Coron and El Nido
In Coron Bay, US Navy aircraft sank Japanese ships on September 24, 1944, including the Irako, the Akitsushima, and the Olympia Maru. Pirates Diving Center in Coron goes out daily, usually to two wrecks and then to a reef or Barracuda Lake on Coron Island. The Lusong Gunboat and the Olympia Maru are diveable with just an Open Water certification, while the Okikawa Maru and the Akitsushima require an Advanced certification. El Nido is located on the northwestern tip of Palawan in Bacuit Bay, a marine protected area where the dive centers' boats go to Cadlao, Helicopter, and Miniloc Islands.
With this booklet, you can plan your week. The dive center's weekly schedule shows how boat trips and house reef dives are spread out over the days, with a plan B if the boat cannot go out due to the weather. The last day before your return flight is kept dive-free. The travel section lists the water and air temperatures, wind, visibility, crowds, and special features for each month, so you can choose the right time before booking your flight and accommodation.
You will receive an A5-format PDF that you can read on your phone or tablet while traveling and print as a booklet at home.
