Marsa Alam Diving Atlas
Between El Quseir and Hamata, you dive from a base, usually at the house reef from the jetty or beach, and on certain days with a day boat. The day boats depart from Port Ghalib, the port of Marsa Alam, and Hamata. In Abu Dabbab Bay, you walk from the beach to the seagrass meadow, where green sea turtles graze and, if you're lucky, a dugong. At Sha'ab Samadai, the inner lagoon belongs solely to the spinner dolphins. A constant current flows over the Elphinstone plateaus, and in autumn, oceanic whitetip sharks visit. You can only reach Daedalus, Rocky Island, Zabargad, and St. John's by liveaboard, which usually departs from Port Ghalib.
Here you dive from a base, with a day boat or at the house reef. Instead of entry and parking, each profile lists the port and the boat ride time. In the weekly schedule of a base, you can see how a diving week is organized. In the accommodation section, the guide compares which base and house reef belong to which property. Restaurants and excursions for non-diving days are listed with a map link, as well as airport transfers and the chapter on emergencies and hyperbaric chambers. Where you can only reach dive sites by liveaboard, the guide compares routes, boats, and departure ports.
You will receive an A5-format PDF that you can read on your phone or tablet while on the go and print as a booklet at home.
