What’s inside the guide

Gran Canaria Diving Atlas

To get to the El Cabrón shore entry, drive from Las Palmas along the GC-1 towards Arinaga to the lighthouse, with the final stretch on a dirt track. You can enter the water there at Playa de El Cabrón. The sea in front of it has been a Natura 2000 site since 2011, where you must not feed animals or disturb sea turtles. The Arona, a freighter that sank in 1972 after a fire in the engine room, lies off the northeast coast opposite Jinámar and is only accessible by boat. A base in the Las Palmas sports boat harbour makes trips to it and requires an advanced diving certificate. You can rent cars at the Gran Canaria airport in the arrivals halls.

The book is written for divers who drive to the entry points themselves or dive with a dive centre. Each profile lists the shore entry with parking, and the compass rose shows you which wind conditions make the site suitable. Sample weeks with a Plan B combine the sites into dive days. Above water, accommodation near the entry points, restaurants and excursions will help you, each location with a map link. Finally, there are directions, travel information and the chapter on emergencies and recompression chambers.

You will receive an A5-format PDF that you can read on your phone or tablet while on the go and print at home as a booklet.

Depths, currents and entries change. The guide does not replace a briefing on site or your training.
