What’s inside the guide

Dive sites in Belize

The Great Blue Hole is located in the Lighthouse Reef Atoll and is part of the Belize Barrier Reef Reserve System World Heritage Site. Day boats depart early in the morning from Caye Caulker and San Pedro on Ambergris Caye, usually combining the Blue Hole with the wall off Half Moon Caye, where you can visit the colony of frigatebirds during the lunch break. The Turneffe Atoll has been a fully protected marine reserve since 2012. The Turneffe Island and Blackbird Caye resorts pick you up in Belize City and also take you to the Blue Hole from there. Every Saturday evening, the Belize Aggressor III and IV safari boats depart from Belize City.

This booklet is for your days in the water. At the beginning, a map shows all the dive sites. Each dive site lists the port from which the boat departs, along with the travel time, or the house reef where you board from the shore. A table at the end of the chapter lists the remaining dive sites. What conditions and winds to expect throughout the year and which regulations apply are explained in the Diving in Belize chapter. Typical species are shown with an actual photo and their season.

You will receive an A5-format PDF that you can read on your phone or tablet while on the go and print as a booklet at home.

Depths, currents and entries change. The guide does not replace a briefing on site or your training.

Questions about the booklet “Dive sites in Belize”

Wo liegt das Great Blue Hole in Belize?

Was steht im Heft Tauchplätze in Belize?

Was unterscheidet das Heft Tauchplätze in Belize vom Tauchatlas Belize?
