What’s inside the guide

Sleeping and Eating in Gran Canaria

To get to the El Cabrón dive site, you drive from Las Palmas along the GC-1 towards Arinaga to the lighthouse, with the final stretch on a dirt track. You enter the water there at Playa de El Cabrón. The sea in front of it has been a Natura 2000 site since 2011, where you must not feed the animals or disturb sea turtles. The Arona, a freighter that sank in 1972 after a fire in the engine room, lies off the northeast coast opposite Jinámar and is only accessible by boat. A dive centre in the Las Palmas sports harbour runs trips to it and requires an advanced diving certificate. You can hire a car at the Gran Canaria airport in the arrivals halls.

This booklet is for the time between dives. It helps you choose a dive centre and describes the areas around it, including nearby entry points. For each accommodation, it states whether there is parking, a place to rinse and dry your equipment, and an early breakfast. Restaurants and snack bars near the entry points are also included, as well as excursions for breaks and the non-diving day before your return flight, each with a link to a map.

You will receive an A5-format PDF that you can read on your phone or tablet while on the go and print as a booklet at home.

Depths, currents and entries change. The guide does not replace a briefing on site or your training.

Questions about the booklet “Sleeping and Eating in Gran Canaria”
