Travel to Sharm el-Sheikh and travel information
The dive centers' day boats depart from Naama Bay or Travco Marina and sail to the reefs in Ras Mohammed National Park and the Strait of Tiran. Ras Mohammed at the southern tip of Sinai has been a national park since 1983. For diving days there, the dive centers charge a park fee per person per day. The Thistlegorm, a British freighter sunk by German bombers on October 6, 1941, lies at the entrance to the Gulf of Suez and is offered as a separate day trip from Sharm. At the airport, you can get a visa for all of Egypt or the Sinai visa, which is only valid for Sharm el-Sheikh, Dahab, Nuweiba, and Taba.
This booklet is for the trip to Sharm el-Sheikh and getting around locally. It lists flights from German-speaking countries, the airlines' rules for diving gear, and transfers from the airport to your accommodation or dive center. In the travel information, you will find sections on documents and insurance, health, equipment, packing lists, money, and phone numbers. The country and its people section explains history and local customs, and how to pronounce the most important place names.
You will receive an A5-format PDF that you can read on your phone or tablet while traveling and print as a booklet at home.
