Diving sites in Sharm el-Sheikh
The Basen's day boats depart from Naama Bay or the Travco Marina and sail to the reefs in Ras Mohammed National Park and the Strait of Tiran. Ras Mohammed at the southern tip of the Sinai has been a national park since 1983. For diving days there, the Basen charge a park fee per person per day. The Thistlegorm, a British freighter sunk by German bombers on October 6, 1941, lies at the entrance to the Gulf of Suez and is visited as a separate day trip from Sharm. At the airport, you can get a visa for all of Egypt or the Sinai visa, which is only valid for Sharm el-Sheikh, Dahab, Nuweiba, and Taba.
This booklet is for your days in the water. At the beginning, a map shows all the portrait sites. Each portrait lists the port from which the boat departs, along with the travel time, or the house reef where you enter from the shore. The remaining dive sites are organized in a table at the end of the chapter. What conditions and winds to expect throughout the year and which regulations apply are explained in the chapter Diving in Sharm el-Sheikh. Typical species are shown in the marine life section with an actual photo and the season.
You will receive an A5-format PDF that you can read on your phone or tablet while on the go and print as a booklet at home.
