Planning a diving holiday in Koh Tao and Koh Samui
On Koh Tao, you take a dive center’s day boat out to sea; many centers offer two dives twice a day. There is no pier in front of the dive centers at Sairee Beach. The large boats moor off the beach, and a longtail boat will take you across; in Mae Haad, where the ferries dock, several dive centers are located just a few minutes from the pier. Chumphon Pinnacle lies to the northwest of the island, while the wreck of the HTMS Sattakut, a decommissioned Royal Thai Navy landing craft, is off the west coast. Dive centers from both Koh Tao and Koh Phangan, as well as from Koh Samui, run trips to Sail Rock in the open water between Koh Tao and Koh Phangan. From Koh Samui, you can also visit Ang Thong National Park, an archipelago of 42 small islands.
This booklet helps you plan your week. The dive center’s weekly schedule shows how boat trips and house reef dives are spread across the days, with a backup plan if the boat cannot sail due to the weather. The last day before your return flight is kept dive-free. The travel section lists water and air temperatures, wind, visibility, crowds, and special events by month, so you can choose your dates before booking your flights and accommodation.
You will receive an A5-format PDF that you can read on your phone or tablet while on the go and print as a booklet at home.
