What’s inside the guide

Sipadan Diving Atlas

Sipadan is Malaysia's only oceanic island, a coral reef on a volcanic cone in the Celebes Sea off Borneo. Since 2004, it has been a marine park managed by Sabah Parks, and there is no longer any accommodation on the island itself. You therefore stay on Mabul or Kapalai and dive Sipadan with a permit that Sabah Parks limits per day and issues only through registered operators. At Barracuda Point in the north of the island, schools of barracudas circle, while the entrance to Turtle Cavern lies in the wall at the drop-off. Off Mabul, you search for macro life such as ornate sepia, blue-ringed octopuses, anglerfish, and moray eels. On Kapalai, the resort stands on stilts over a sandbank.

Here you dive from a base, with the day boat or at the house reef. Instead of entry and parking, each portrait mentions the harbour and the boat ride. In the weekly schedule of a base, you can see how a diving week is organized. In the accommodation section, the band compares which base and house reef belong to which resort. Restaurants and excursions for non-diving days are listed in the band with a map link, as well as the transfer from the airport and the chapter on emergencies and the hyperbaric chamber.

You will receive an A5-format PDF that you can read on your phone or tablet while on the go and print at home as a booklet.

Depths, currents and entries change. The guide does not replace a briefing on site or your training.

Questions about the booklet “Sipadan Diving Atlas”

Was steht im Tauchatlas Sipadan?
