Maldives Diving Atlas
The Ari Atoll in the Maldives is home to well-known dive sites such as Fish Head, Maaya Thila and Kuda Rah Thila. Whale sharks can be seen in the marine protected area in the south of the atoll all year round. The Baa Atoll is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, and during the southwest monsoon, manta rays gather in Hanifaru Bay on its eastern side, where you are only allowed to snorkel. Safari boats depart from Malé and visit several atolls in a week, with some travelling to the Baa Atoll from July to October. You can also stay on a resort island with a house reef or at a guesthouse on a local island and make day trips from there.
Here, you can dive from a dive centre, on a day boat or at a house reef. Instead of entry requirements and parking, each profile lists the port and boat travel time. The dive centre’s weekly schedule shows how a dive week is organised. In the accommodation section, the band compares which dive centre and house reef are included with each property. Restaurants and excursions for non-diving days are listed with a map link, along with airport transfers and the chapter on emergencies and recompression chambers. For dive sites that can only be reached by safari boat, the band compares routes, boats and departure ports.
You will receive an A5-format PDF that you can read on your phone or tablet while on the go and print as a booklet at home.
