What’s inside the guide

Diving sites in Saudi Arabia

On the Saudi coast of the Red Sea, Yanbu and Jeddah are the two diving centres. Off Yanbu lies the Seven Sisters reef group, whose coral walls the tourism authority calls hammerhead sharks. Southwest of Jeddah lies Abu Tair Island with the wreck of the Greek Stavronisos, also called Cable Wreck because of the cables on the seabed. The Al-Haddad Scuba base in Obhur in the north of the city goes out by boat every day and decides the site the day before according to the weather. Diving takes place in the Red Sea all year round.

This booklet is for the days in the water. At the beginning, a map shows all the portrait sites. Each portrait mentions the port from which the boat departs, with the travel time, or the house reef where you get in from the shore. The other diving sites are organised in a table at the end of the chapter. What conditions and wind await you throughout the year and which regulations apply is explained in the chapter Diving in Saudi Arabia. Typical species are shown with real photos and the season.

You get a PDF in A5 format, which you can read on your phone or tablet on the go and print as a booklet at home.

Depths, currents and entries change. The guide does not replace a briefing on site or your training.

Researched and compiled by a divemaster.

Questions about the booklet “Diving sites in Saudi Arabia”

Was steht im Heft Tauchplätze in Saudi-Arabien?
