Dive sites on Roatán
On Roatán, the locals usually take you by boat to sites at a fixed buoy. In West End, the boats leave several times a day, and the western end of the island offers little current and shelter from the prevailing wind, according to West End Divers. At West Bay Beach, the reef begins just a few steps from the shore. From the shore, you can also dive at the house reefs of several resorts, and at CoCo View on the south coast, all year round to the Prince Albert wreck. The waters around the Bay Islands have been a marine national park since 2010, where Roatán Marine Park rangers patrol by boat.
This booklet is for your days in the water. At the beginning, a map shows all the dive sites. Each site lists the harbor from which the boat departs, along with the boat ride time, or the house reef where you enter from the shore. A table at the end of the chapter lists the remaining dive sites. What conditions and winds to expect throughout the year and which regulations apply are explained in the chapter Diving on Roatán. Typical species are shown with an actual photo and their season.
You will receive an A5-format PDF that you can read on your phone or tablet while on the go and print as a booklet at home.
