What’s inside the guide

Dive sites in Palau

In Palau, you dive from a day boat based in Koror, which sets out through the Rock Islands in the morning. Their southern lagoon has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2012. At the northwestern tip of Ngemelis lies Blue Corner, where you attach yourself to the dead reef with a reef hook in the current. Also at Ngemelis, the German Channel runs through the reef between Ngemelis and Ngercheu, established in 1908 under German colonial rule to ship phosphate. Today, mantas visit a cleaning station there. In addition, there are the wrecks of Japanese ships that sank during an air raid in early 1944.

This booklet is for the days in the water. At the beginning, a map shows all the dive sites. Each dive site lists the port from which the boat departs, along with the travel time, or the house reef where you enter from the shore. The remaining dive sites are organized in a table at the end of the chapter. What conditions and winds to expect throughout the year and which regulations apply are explained in the chapter Diving in Palau. Typical species are shown with an actual photo and their season.

You will receive an A5-format PDF that you can read on your phone or tablet while on the go and print as a booklet at home.

Depths, currents and entries change. The guide does not replace a briefing on site or your training.

Questions about the booklet “Dive sites in Palau”
