Travel to Palau and travel information
In Palau, you dive from a dive center’s day boat, which sets out from Koror in the morning to explore the Rock Islands. Their southern lagoon has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2012. The Blue Corner is located at the northwestern tip of Ngemelis, where you attach yourself to the dead reef with a reef hook in the current. Also at Ngemelis, the German Channel runs through the reef between Ngemelis and Ngercheu; it was established in 1908 under German colonial rule to ship out phosphate. Today, manta rays visit a cleaning station there. There are also the wrecks of Japanese ships that sank during an air raid in early 1944.
This booklet is for your trip to Palau and getting around locally. It covers flights from German-speaking countries, the airlines’ rules for diving gear, and transfers from the airport to your accommodation or dive center. The travel information section guides you through documents and insurance, health, equipment, packing lists, money, and phone calls in that order. The country and its people section explains history and local customs, as well as how to pronounce the most important place names.
You will receive an A5-format PDF that you can read on your phone or tablet while traveling and print as a booklet at home.
