What’s inside the guide

Diving sites in Cape Verde

In the Cape Verde Islands, you dive off Sal and Boa Vista on a dive center boat. On Sal, the centers depart from Santa Maria for overhang reefs, two wrecks that are now artificial reefs, and the caves off Palmeira and Murdeira. The Blue Eye of Buracona, a cave on the northwest coast, is famous. Off Sal Rei on Boa Vista, the boats depart from Estoril Beach for the Taliarte and John M. wrecks and sites such as Shark Point. The northeast trade winds blow all year round, so the centers often expect currents and swell.

This booklet is for your days in the water. At the beginning, a map shows all the featured sites. Each feature lists the port from which the boat departs, along with the boat ride time, or the house reef where you enter the water from the shore. A table at the end of the chapter lists the other dive sites. What conditions and winds to expect throughout the year and which regulations apply are explained in the chapter Diving in the Cape Verde Islands. Typical species are shown with an actual photograph and their season.

You will receive an A5-format PDF that you can read on your phone or tablet while on the go and print as a booklet at home.

Depths, currents and entries change. The guide does not replace a briefing on site or your training.

Questions about the booklet “Diving sites in Cape Verde”
