Travel to Mindanao and travel information

On Camiguin, a volcanic island off the northern coast of Mindanao, the outrigger boat of a dive base located directly opposite White Island sets off from the resort. The journey to White Island, Old Vulcano and the Sunken Cemetery is short, while Mantigue Island is a day trip. The regional tourism authority calls Samal in the Gulf of Davao its most important diving destination, where the Pearl Farm Wrecks, two Japanese ships from the Second World War, lie. Siargao in the northeast has been protected along with the surrounding islands and sea since 1996. From General Luna, a dive base takes you out by boat, also to the Blue Cathedral cave on the Pacific side, which is only open to experienced divers.

This booklet is for the trip to Mindanao and getting around locally. It lists flights from German-speaking countries, the airlines' rules for diving gear, and transfers from the airport to your accommodation or the dive base. In the travel information, you will go through documents and insurance, health, equipment, packing list, money, and phone numbers in turn. Land and people explains history and customs, and how to pronounce the most important place names.

You will receive an A5-format PDF that you can read on your phone or tablet while traveling and print as a booklet at home.

Depths, currents and entries change. The guide does not replace a briefing on site or your training.

Researched and compiled by a divemaster.

Questions about the booklet “Travel to Mindanao and travel information”
