Travel to the Cayman Islands and travel information

Bloody Bay Wall and Jackson Bight are located on the north side of Little Cayman, where the dive boats depart from around the western tip of the island to the buoys. The sea in front of them is a marine reserve, boats moor there at fixed buoys, and commercial operators need a permit. Stingray City and the sandbar in the North Sound of Grand Cayman are the two areas where you are allowed to come into contact with the rays; you are not allowed to pick them up out of the water. After Little Cayman, you fly with the Twin Otter operated by Cayman Airways Express. Gloves are banned everywhere on the islands when diving.

This booklet is for the trip to the Cayman Islands and getting around locally. It covers flights from German-speaking countries, the airlines' rules for scuba gear, and transfers from the airport to your accommodation or dive base. In the travel information, you will go through documents and insurance, health, equipment, packing list, money, and phone calls in turn. Land and people explains history and local customs, and how to pronounce the most important place names.

You will receive an A5-format PDF that you can read on your phone or tablet while traveling and print as a booklet at home.

Depths, currents and entries change. The guide does not replace a briefing on site or your training.

Researched and compiled by a divemaster.
