What’s inside the guide

Diving sites in Oman

The Daymaniyat Islands are a chain of nine islands managed by the Oman Environment Authority as a marine nature reserve. You need a permit for every visit. SeaOman’s day boats depart from Marina Al Mouj in Muscat and the Barceló Mussanah Resort. From May to October, you are not allowed to set foot on the islands, but diving and snorkelling are still permitted. Extra Divers runs trips to Fahal Island from Qantab, and to Bandar Khayran, south-east of Muscat, from Qantab and Sifah, where the Royal Navy sank the wreck of the Al Munassir. In April, May and from September to November, the Safariship Oman Explorer also departs from Sifah.

This booklet is for your days on the water. At the beginning, a map shows all the dive sites. Each site lists the harbour from which the boat departs, along with the boat ride time, or the house reef where you can enter the water from the shore. A table at the end of the chapter lists the remaining dive sites. What to expect throughout the year in terms of conditions and wind, and which regulations apply, is explained in the chapter Diving in Oman. Typical species are shown with an actual photograph and their season.

You will receive an A5-format PDF that you can read on your phone or tablet while on the go and print out as a booklet at home.

Depths, currents and entries change. The guide does not replace a briefing on site or your training.

Questions about the booklet “Diving sites in Oman”
