Diving bases and accommodations in Phuket and the Andaman Sea
In Phuket, day-trip dive boats depart from Chalong Pier for the islands of Racha Yai and Racha Noi in the south, and for Shark Point, the King Cruiser wreck, and the Phi Phi Islands in the east. These destinations are served all year round. You can reach the Similan Islands and Koh Bon from Khao Lak by speedboat from Thap Lamu Pier or on a liveaboard dive trip, which usually goes as far as Richelieu Rock near the Surin Islands. Both national parks are closed from mid-May to mid-October. Further south lie Hin Daeng and Hin Muang in Mu Ko Lanta National Park, which can be reached by liveaboard from Phuket.
This booklet lets you choose a dive base and accommodation together. It compares the dive bases and the guesthouses next to them, which base and house reef belong to which guesthouse, and how far the walk to the boat is. For each accommodation, it states whether there is a place to rinse and dry your equipment and whether an early breakfast is available. For non-diving days, the booklet lists restaurants and excursions, each with a link to its location on the map.
