Travel to Phuket and the Andaman Sea and travel information

In Phuket, day-trip dive boats depart from Chalong Pier for the islands of Racha Yai and Racha Noi in the south, and for Shark Point, the King Cruiser wreck, and Phi Phi in the east. They sail to these destinations all year round. You can reach the Similan Islands and Koh Bon from Khao Lak by speedboat from Thap Lamu Pier or on a liveaboard dive trip, which usually goes as far as Richelieu Rock near the Surin Islands. Both national parks are closed from mid-May to mid-October. Further south lie Hin Daeng and Hin Muang in Mu Ko Lanta National Park, which liveaboard boats sail to from Phuket.

This booklet is for traveling to Phuket and the Andaman Sea and getting around locally. It lists flights from German-speaking countries, the airlines' rules for diving gear, and transfers from the airport to your accommodation or dive base. In the travel information, you will find sections on documents and insurance, health, equipment, packing lists, money, and phone numbers. The country and people section explains history and local customs, and how to pronounce the most important place names.

You will receive an A5-format PDF that you can read on your phone or tablet while traveling and print as a booklet at home.

Depths, currents and entries change. The guide does not replace a briefing on site or your training.
