You can drive to Garajau Beach or take the cable car down from Cristo Rei and enter the water from the shore. In Caniço de Baixo, a dive centre is located directly on its house reef within the reserve. Fishing is prohibited throughout the area, and dive boats may only moor at the designated mooring buoys. Off Cabo Girão lies the corvette Afonso Cerqueira, which was sunk in 2018 to create an artificial reef. The ferry to Porto Santo departs daily from Funchal, and two more sunken ships lie off the island.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThis booklet is for days spent in the water. At the beginning, a map shows all the shore dive sites, and each entry describes the entry point from the shore and the nearest car park. The compass rose shows which sites are suitable for which wind conditions. A table at the end of the chapter lists the remaining dive sites.
